കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമി 2025 ഡിസംബര് 12 മുതല് 19 വരെ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന 30ാമത് ഐ.എഫ്.എഫ്.കെയില് ഇന്ത്യന് സമാന്തര സിനിമയുടെ മുന്നണിപ്പോരാളി സയ്യിദ് മിര്സയുടെ മൂന്ന് ചിത്രങ്ങള് റെട്രോസ്പെക്റ്റീവ് വിഭാഗത്തില് ഉള്പ്പെടുത്തി പ്രദര്ശിപ്പിക്കും.
1996ല് രണ്ട് ദേശീയ ചലച്ചിത്രപുരസ്കാരങ്ങള് നേടിയ 'നസീം', മികച്ച ഹിന്ദി ചിത്രത്തിനുള്ള 37ാമത് ദേശീയ പുരസ്കാരം നേടിയ 'സലീം ലാംഗ്ഡേ പേ മത് രോ', 'അരവിന്ദ് ദേശായി കി അജീബ് ദാസ്താന്' എന്നീ ചിത്രങ്ങളാണ് പ്രദര്ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. ബാബരി മസ്ജിദ് തകര്ക്കപ്പെടുന്നതിനു തൊട്ടു മുമ്പുള്ള ആറു മാസങ്ങളില് മുംബൈയിലെ ഒരു മുസ്ലിംകുടുംബത്തിലെ നസീം എന്ന 15കാരിയും മുത്തച്ഛനും തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധത്തിലൂടെ വര്ഗീയസംഘര്ഷത്തിന്റെ തീക്ഷ്ണത അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രമാണ് 'നസീം'. നഗരങ്ങളിലെ മുസ്ലിംകളുടെ അരികുവത്കരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ആഴത്തിലുള്ള പരിശോധനയാണ് സലിംപാഷ എന്ന ഭിന്നശേഷിക്കാരന്റെ കഥ പറയുന്ന 'സലീം ലാംഗ്ഡേ പേ മത് രോ'. വായില് വെള്ളിക്കരണ്ടിയുമായി ജനിച്ചുവീണ ഒരു സമ്പന്ന ബിസിനസുകാരന്റെ മകന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യബോധമില്ലാത്ത ജീവിതയാത്ര അവതരിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ് 'അരവിന്ദ് ദേശായി കി അജീബ് ദാസ്താന്' എന്ന ചിത്രം.
പുനെ ഫിലിം ഇന്സ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടില്നിന്ന് 1976ല് ബിരുദം നേടിയ സയ്യിദ് മിര്സ പുരോഗമന രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിന്റെ ശക്തമായ അടിയൊഴുക്കുള്ള പ്രമേയങ്ങളാണ് സിനിമകള്ക്ക് സ്വീകരിച്ചിരുന്നത്. നിലവില് കെ.ആര്.നാരായണന് നാഷണല് ഇന്സ്റ്റിറ്റിയുട്ട് ഓഫ് വിഷ്വല് സയന്സ് ആന്റ് ആര്ട്സിന്റെ ചെയര്മാന് ആണ്.

*30th IFFK: Three Films by Saeed Mirza in the Retrospective Section*
At the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and scheduled to be held in Thiruvananthapuram from December 12 to 19, 2025, three landmark films by Saeed Akhtar Mirza—one of the leading voices of Indian Parallel Cinema—will be screened in the Retrospective section.
The films included are Naseem (1996), which won two National Film Awards; Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro, recipient of the 37th National Award for Best Hindi Film; and Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan.
Naseem portrays the intensifying communal tensions in the six months leading up to the demolition of the Babri Masjid, through the tender relationship between a 15-year-old girl, Naseem, and her grandfather in a Muslim household in Mumbai.
Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro narrates the story of Salim Pasha, a young man with a physical disability, offering a profound examination of the marginalisation of Muslims in urban India.
Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan explores the directionless life of a wealthy businessman’s son, born into privilege but devoid of purpose.
Saeed Mirza, who graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in 1976, is known for his films rooted in progressive political thought. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the K.R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts.
